Steps for beginning a marriage mentoring ministry in your church or organization.

The following is a brief summary for how to begin a marriage mentoring ministry in your church. You can obtain more details regarding this process by contacting our office at 972.774.1400.

  1. The first step is to identify the staff member (Staff Champion) that will provide oversight for the mentoring ministry and the Ministry Coordinator couple(s) who will serve as the lead couple(s) for the mentoring ministry.
  2. The second step is to invite potential mentor couples to an informational meeting in your church where they can learn the details of marriage mentoring and determine future involvement. (Marriage Mentors can provide a PowerPoint presentation for use at the informational meeting)
  3. Couples expressing a desire to become marriage mentors schedule to attend a one day training. Currently there are three options for mentor couples to become trained:

    • Attend training at the Strong Marriages office in Dallas, TX. Trainings are scheduled based on demand.
    • Bring a Marriage Mentors certified trainer to your church (required min. of 6 couples)
    • Attend a training hosted by any of our current partnering churches and led by a certified Marriage Mentor Trainer. (We recommend each partnering church have their own certified trainer, making it much more convenient and economical to train future mentors
